Lahti

Lahti, Finland

Lahti is around 100K north of Helsinki and boasts 170K of cross country ski trails. 145K of these are part of the Salpausselkä route network and the trails start in the city centre.

Lahti made headlines in February 2017 when Adrien Solano represented Venezuela at the Nordic world ski championships. Having only trained on roller skis, and never on snow, Adrien fell severe times on the FIS cross-country course, before he triumphantly crossed the finish line.


Getting to Lahti by Air

Lahti is less than an hour from Helsinki Airport.

The Ring rail line links long distance rail travel with air transport, and brings an easy connection from Helsinki Airport to all of Finland. The train takes about 50 minutes. This is the timetable.

Other Ski Centres

There are two other ski centres not far from Lahti. The nearest in Messila or Pajulahti, both 10 km away, and 45km to the north is Vierumaki.

Ski Races

Races in the Worldloppet series called the Finlandia Hiihto are held annually 12-13 February, in classic and skate or free technique styles of 20 km, 32 km and 65 km lengths.
