Bodenmais is situated in the heart of the Bavarian Forest at the foot of the downhill ski area of the Great Arber. Locally it has 30 kilometres of cross country ski trails from Bodenmais, and with a short ski bus to Bretterschachten there are plenty more.

The nearest airports to Bodenmais are LinzMunich and Prague. There are six airports within a three hour drive.

Böhmhof Round – 4.5K – A sunny trail for beginners.
Mooshof Lang – 9.2K
Hammerhof – 4K – An easy to moderately difficult circuit in the district of Kottinghammer. The cross-country ski trail at Bergwinkel is also connected to the Mosshof trail.
Böhmhof-Kohlplatz Round – 9.1K – A beginner’s tour across open terrain.
Mooshof short – 5.4K

For more variety and longer lengths, take the ski bus to the nearby resort of Bretterschachten.

Cross Country Ski Races

The Skadi Loppet is held in nearby Bretterschachten in March each year. It is one of the Euroloppet series of races and has the options of 42K and 24K Classic and 32K and 17K Free technique races.

Ski Bus and Timetable

There is a ski bus that takes you to the Bretterschachten ski area (free with the tourist card) and there are various local train services to nearby areas.
