Cross Country Ski Trips

Many nordic skiers choose to organise themselves independently and I hope the information on resorts helps a little towards this.

However, booking a package deal or an organised trip can often be cost effective as transfer costs are included and hotels may be better priced. You will need to look carefully to check whether hotels are near enough to cross country ski tracks, and we have made this task easier by identifying potential places for you.

There are a number of tour companies, clubs and organisations who specialise in organised cross country trips and some also have tuition for you to learn to nordic ski. Here are a selection, and some of the resorts that they feature are also within the GoXski website.  Just follow the links on the logos below for more information to start with, and any discounts are featured on that organisations' page.

The British Masters Cross Country Ski Association (BMCCSA) exists primarily to allow British skiers to take part in the Masters World Cup, an annual competition for Master skiers from around the world.

The 2023 Masters World Championship will be held in Seefeld, Austria 17 -25 March 2023, with a pre-season trip in December 2022.  Find out more about this from the photo link on the left.

For many years Stuart Montgomery of XC-UK used the hotel for cross country skiing holidays, and for the last few years a group of Instructors know as GB Nordic have based themselves at the Dalseter Hoyfjellshotell. They provide tailored tuition and guided cross country ski tours for a daily fee.

This is one of the few ski holiday companies who specifically feature cross country skiing in their brochure, so you can be assured that hotels will be in the right location. They specialise in European, Norwegian and Finnish locations and also a range of beginner’s weeks or tuition you can add on.

This nordic ski club provide a selection of roller ski taster sessions throughout the year, Spring and Autumn roller ski courses and On-Snow club trips. The membership fee is modest and they have a range of benefits which includes discounts on package holidays with Exodus, Inntravel and Inghams.

SE provide roller ski courses throughout the year, and a on-snow skills week. The latter is an intensive week of instruction in Norway with top coaches such as Patrick Winterton, Mike Dixon and Alan Eason. There is no trip planned for 2024 but you can read details of the 2022 week and what to expect by clicking the logo. The next trip will be in  2025 so join the mailing list to find out more, as I am organising it.

Tracks and Trails is the only adventure holiday company to be recognised by BASI, the British Association of Snowsport Instructors, as a Nordic Ski School. Cross country skiing is a passion and they work with professional fully qualified ski instructors. They offer cross country skiing in 3 styles; 'classic', 'skate' , and 'off track'. They have both Scheduled Departure trips, and bespoke options across Europe and Scandinavia and specialise in point-to-point journeys.

Undiscovered Mountains offer specialist cross country skiing holidays in France. They are based in the Southern French Alps including the Queyras, Briançonnais, Serre Ponçon and Champsaur nordic ski domains famous for their excellent snow record with some high altitude domaines, well managed pistes, pure Alpine air, and stunning and varied mountain scenery. Their trips are organised to cater for different abilities and for 'skating' and 'classic' cross country skiing. They have scheduled departure dates for weekend and week long cross country ski trips and can tailor make trips for small groups and clubs.

VI Nordic Skiing

A group for visually impaired people who enjoy the freedom and challenge of cross country skiing. The  group are enthusiastic cross country skiers spread throughout Britain. Visually impaired people and sighted guides ski together on their annual holiday, learning from each other and having fun. The group does not have charitable status, nor is it a club, they are simply a self-organised group of people who love to ski! Details of the 2023 trip are now available.
