The Ylläs ski area has a total of 330 km of cross country ski tracks, including 38 kilometres which are illuminated. The main area for cross country skiing centres around Äkäslompolo and you can get buses from here to the start of other trails in the area.

Is the centre of cross country skiing in Ylläs where a lot of accommodation is just a short walk away from the tracks.
This is free if staying at the Äkäs Hotel, Äkäs Cabins or Alp Apartments. Guests staying at other properties pay approximately €3.50 Adult/ €2.50 Child per trip or €21 Adult / €10.50 Child per week (under 4yrs Free).

Bars and Restaurants: Otso Restaurant and Bar, which used to be called Jullis – home made burgers, fresh fish and reindeer are specialities of this informal bar/restaurant. A short walk from the Akas hotel, they play excellent music and the friendly atmosphere creates a nice warm meeting place after a good days skiing, well at least it was when I was there last.
Ski shops / Ski rental shops
The Akaslompolo Sports Shop is a short walk from the Akas hotel and provides excellent ski hire as well, equipment and clothing. You can often get bargains at the end of season.
